Teens & Uni Students

If you’ve found your way here, things might feel hard right now. You may be noticing that your teen or uni student is struggling with motivation, focus, or direction. Conversations can feel tricky — sometimes tense, sometimes shut down — and it’s hard to know how to help without adding to the pressure.

You might be worried about how they’ll cope with study, transitions, or increasing expectations. Perhaps you’re seeing signs of stress, exhaustion, or burnout, and wondering what could make things feel easier for everyone.

That’s where The Emerging Wayfinder comes in. Coaching offers space for young people to pause, reflect, and build practical ways to manage energy, focus, and direction — in ways that fit them. It’s not about fixing, but about helping them understand themselves better and take steps that feel possible and meaningful.

And if you’re a student reading this, this space is for you. Coaching isn’t about being told what to do — it’s a chance to explore what matters to you, what helps you feel capable and calm, and how to move forward in your own way.

You are the client and in the driving seat. I’m your wingwoman — here to support, challenge, and cheer you on as you navigate your own path.

How Teen & Uni Student Coaching Works

Who is the client?

When I work with a young person, they are the client. Coaching gives them space to reflect, explore, and build confidence in how they approach study and life. My role is to guide and support, not instruct. The focus is on understanding themselves and finding ways to move forward that fit them.

How do parents or caregivers fit in?

If the student is under 18, we’ll agree together how parents or caregivers are involved. Typically, the student prepares and leads short Waypoint conversations with their parent to share progress and decide what’s helpful to discuss at home.

Sessions themselves are confidential — what’s shared with parents is entirely led by the student. They’re in the driver’s seat, learning how to communicate what matters and where they want support.

If the student is over 18, parent involvement is optional and guided completely by what the student chooses.

Do parents get updates because they’re paying?

Payment doesn’t change confidentiality. Coaching belongs to the student, not the payer. What’s shared with parents or caregivers is always at the student’s discretion.

What if the student isn’t sure about coaching?

That’s completely okay — many people start feeling unsure or even resistant. Coaching isn’t something that’s done to you; it’s a space you choose to step into. What matters most is a willingness to be open and curious about what might help. If the student isn’t ready yet, we can have a short conversation together to explore what coaching involves and whether it feels like a good fit — with no pressure to continue.

Is this therapy or tutoring?

Neither. Coaching isn’t therapy — although we might look at past experiences, it’s not about treating or diagnosing. We reflect on the past only to understand patterns and what helps or hinders you now. It also isn’t tutoring — I’m not teaching subject content.

Sometimes we’ll use coursework or study goals as the context for our work, but the focus is always on how you approach it: planning, focus, motivation, organisation, and managing energy. Coaching helps you understand yourself better and find ways to study, work, and live that actually work for you.

What actually happens in sessions?

Each session is a mix of conversation, reflection, and practical tools. We look at what’s working, where you’re getting stuck, and what you’d like to shift. You choose the focus — study, energy, routines, communication — and we work from there.

What if I'm the student reading this?

This space is for you. Coaching isn’t about being told what to do; it’s about figuring out what matters to you and how to make things work in ways that feel right.  You’re the client and in the driving seat. I’m your wingwoman — here to support, challenge, and cheer you on as you navigate your path.

HOW IT WORKS

Each session builds on the last — we check in, reflect, and plan your next small step 🚶‍♀️.

You’ll explore what helps you focus, stay organised, and handle stress 💭 in a calm, judgment-free space.

It’s not tutoring or therapy — and it’s definitely not about “fixing” you (because you don’t need fixing). It’s about learning how you work best and finding tools that make life feel a bit easier ✨.

WHAT YOU TAKE AWAY

You’ll come away with a clearer idea of what’s important to you — what you want to focus on and how to make progress 🧭.

You’ll start to notice what helps you stay on track, what trips you up, and what makes you feel more confident and in control 💪.

TAILORED TO YOU

Everyone’s different. Some people want support with study and focus; others want to understand emotions, motivation, or relationships.

The Emerging Wayfinder adapts to what’s most useful for you — building on your strengths and focusing on what matters most right now.

The Emerging Wayfinder Onward Journey

After finishing The Emerging Wayfinder, some people like to keep going with regular sessions.

These fortnightly sessions are a chance to talk things through, stay focused, and keep building on what’s working — whether that’s study, routines, friendships, or finding balance.

We can also include Waypoint sessions with parents or caregivers if that’s helpful — space to share what’s been learned, celebrate progress, and keep everyone on the same page.

It’s a steady rhythm of support and accountability that helps you keep growing, learning, and finding your own way — with a little guidance alongside you.

The Emerging Wayfinder Taster

Many people find the Emerging Wayfinder package works well because change takes time.  But if you aren't sure and would like to dip your toe in the water you could try The Emerging Wayfinder Taster — a  one-month introduction to coaching for teens and uni students who want to focus on one area or try coaching before committing to a longer journey.

The Taster gives you space to explore one meaningful goal — whether that’s managing study, building confidence, finding motivation, or easing overwhelm — and start building practical tools that fit you.

WHAT'S INCLUDED

1 × Discovery session — to get clear on what’s happening and what you’d like to work toward

4 × Navigate sessions — to explore what’s getting in the way and develop tools that help

1 × Harbour meeting (with parent / supporter if under 18) — to reflect, review, and plan next steps

By the end, you’ll have a clearer sense of what helps, a few reliable tools to keep using, and a feel for whether coaching is something you’d like to continue.

After the Taster, you can keep building on what you’ve started through The Emerging Wayfinder — a longer, three-month journey designed to deepen confidence, tools, and self-understanding.
