The Importance of Pace
Ever wondered what tattoo your parents would get? Mine surprised me and, as ever, taught me something valuable.
A few weeks ago, my family was talking about tattoos. When we asked my parents what theyโd get, my dad didnโt hesitate: โ๐ฃ๐๐๐โ.
He explained that life is all about pacing yourself โ not too fast, not too slow. Just finding your rhythm.
Then this weekend, at Cirque du Soleil ๐ช, a line stopped me in my tracks: โ๐๐บ ๐ง๐ข๐ต๐ฉ๐ฆ๐ณ ๐ด๐ข๐ช๐ฅ ๐ต๐ฉ๐ข๐ต ๐ญ๐ช๐ง๐ฆ ๐ช๐ด ๐ญ๐ช๐ฌ๐ฆ ๐ณ๐ช๐ฅ๐ช๐ฏ๐จ ๐ข ๐ฃ๐ช๐ค๐บ๐ค๐ญ๐ฆ โ ๐ช๐ง ๐บ๐ฐ๐ถ ๐จ๐ฐ ๐ต๐ฐ๐ฐ ๐ง๐ข๐ด๐ต, ๐บ๐ฐ๐ถ ๐จ๐ฆ๐ต ๐ต๐ช๐ณ๐ฆ๐ฅ ๐ฒ๐ถ๐ช๐ค๐ฌ๐ญ๐บ.
Two different fathers, same wisdom.
The art of life isnโt just about moving forward โ itโs about balance.
Knowing when to push, when to slow down, and when to simply cruise.
The best leaders, like the best performers, know how to set a pace others can move with, and when to adjust that pace. They can read the room.
And great leadership means recognising that not everyone moves at the same rhythm โ some need more time, others thrive in bursts. The strength is in making space for all of it: in how we work, motivate, and measure success.
